Mary has been a student of yoga since 1993 initially learning Hatha Yoga and then finding her joy in Yoga Synthesis, created by Raji Thron. She completed her 200 hour training with Raji Thron in May 2000. In 2003 she discovered the profound healing effects of Restorative Yoga during her brother's illness and ultimate passing. Over the years, Mary has continued her education with workshops by Yoganand, Doug Keller, and Max Strom. She was trained to teach Restorative Yoga by Sudha Lundeen 2005 and enjoyed Trance Dance training with Shiva Rea in 2008. Most recently, she completed a 300 hour Therapeutic Yoga Certification with Paula Tepedino of Yoga Light School. This training along with the years of teaching and learning has given her the tools to work with people both in group settings and individually, designing practices to assist in healing all aspects of the person. Mary believes in natural healing modalities and has studied Ayurveda and Herbal Medicine and often shares ways to apply these modalities to your yoga practice and everyday life.
Mary is also a NJ Licensed Massage Therapist (since 1996) and Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist. She offers Restorative Yoga workshops, Day Retreats and an annual Women's Wellness Weekend. She believes her role as a teacher is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which students can learn the principles and practice of yoga and in turn discover their own true nature; creating balance of body, mind and spirit. She encourages playfulness, curiosity and compassion in the practice.
